The Space In-Between.

Sometimes it’s not what you put into a design that counts, but what you leave out. This was the view Greenspace took when creating Negative Space, the second book
by renowned illustrator Noma Bar.

Bar has illustrated over sixty magazine covers and published over 550 illustrations. Impressively, he can tell a story
or express a political view through
his use of visuals alone. Noma Bar’s combination of caricature and pictograms demonstrate expert use of the negative space surrounding an image.
Every shape is important; every shape impacts upon the viewer.

Our approach to the book design for Negative Space was to let Bar’s body of work maintain its own sense of voice. By keeping typography to a minimum, his graphics were given the ability to speak for themselves.
